The 2006 campaign is now over. Themes and key issues for ALW 2006The themes for Adult Learners’ Week 2006 follow from last year’s groupings: - culture, community and citizenship; equality and diversity; learning and health; and skills for life. This last major theme seeks to encourage learners to engage with the importance of taking control of our everyday lives through literacy, language and numeracy learning, through ICT and financial literacy and through developing our media literacy. A fifth theme for 2006 will be learning in a global context – encouraging international awareness for example learning about migration and fair trade and North/South issues. Planners of local events for ALW may like to use the themes to give a focus to their events – they are not intended to restrict your activities – so please use the Week to suit your own priorities.
