What is Adult Learners' Week?
Adult Learners’ Week is the country’s largest festival of learning
and takes place each year at the end of May – this year it’s 19 – 25
May. Thousands of colleges, local authorities and other providers
are involved – it’s all about showing that learning can be enjoyable
and a great way to catch up on skills not learnt at school, to learn
for or at work, or to learn for fun. It is a joint venture between
education and training providers, broadcasters, and national and
local government.
Events take place across the country - in shops, cafes, museums, libraries, prisons, colleges and parks which give people the chance to get involved - and there’s a dedicated telephone helpline for more information – 0800 100 900.
Our online calendar is a free of charge resource, available on this website that helps you find out what’s going on in your area. All of the events are free to attend and you can find details of taster sessions, open days, workshops etc – there’s something for everyone, whatever you’re interested in learning.
To find out what’s going on in your area, just click here for the online calendar, or call learndirect on 0800 100 900.
Adult Learners’ Week is also about celebrating the achievements of learners and providers through the Adult Learners’ Week Awards. We want to hear the stories of people who – through determination, commitment and dedication – have transformed their lives through learning. If you know a learner who has changed careers, started a new business, or become happier and more fulfilled individual, we want to hear about them.
