Entry Notes
Eligibility
Anyone can nominate a group or family for an award – tutors, trainers, work colleagues, employers or friends. However, we are unable to accept more than two entries per nominator.
Entry is open to nominees based in England only.
Individuals
The following people can be nominated for an Adult Learners’ Week Award.
- Any adult who will be over 21 on 19 January 2007.
- Any young adult aged 16-21 who has had a break of at least three years from full-time study.
- Any adult who may not be a current learner, but who has been a student or self-directed learner at some point since 19 January 2005.
Groups and Families
All groups and families must:
- consist of three or more members
- Families entered for an award must comprise at least one adult aged 18 or over.
- Groups must be, in the main, adults over 21 on 19 January 2006 unless they have had a break of three years from full time study.
Opening Doors
Programmes must have been running for a minimum of 9 months and
be ongoing.
The nominated programme should provide learning opportunities for:
- Adults who will be over 21 on 19 January 2007.
- Young adults aged 16-21 who has had a break of at least three years from full-time study.
- Adults who may not be current learners, but who have been a student or self-directed learner at some point since 19 January 2005.
Learning Vouchers
Individual Awards: Adults selected for an individual award will
receive a £200 learning voucher.
Groups and families: Award winners will receive a £500 learning
voucher to be spent for the benefit of the group or family.
Opening Doors: representatives of the winning programmes will be
invited to a national ceremony in London and receive a £1500
learning voucher
Nominations can only be accepted online, or on an official nomination form which can be downloaded here. Forms are also available on audio cassette, in other languages and other formats.
