remarkable stories inspire and motivate others to get involved in

peoples lives for the better.
For
people like Patrick O’ Mahoney, from Gloucestershire, winning an
Adult Learners’ Week Award was an important recognition of his
remarkable learning journey.
Formerly an alcoholic and unable to read, Patrick was considered by some to be a hopeless case. But with a literacy course under his belt he managed to land a responsible job, which helped to boost his self esteem and his standard of living. Patrick's perseverance was rewarded with an Adult Learners’ Week Award and a trip to the Awards ceremony in London.
