Adult Learners' Week in the East Midlands

Main contact: Rebecca Bridges

For the past 7yrs, Rebecca has coordinated Adult Learners' Week events in Leicestershire on behalf of NIACE, through the Leicestershire and Leicester City Learning Partnership's (LLCLP) 'Promotion of Learning' working group.

This work has also included a focus around planning Cultural Diversity events, the production of promotional materials to support learners engagement and progression, collection of learner case studies to raise awareness of Adult Learners' Week through the media and in addition to this, for the past 3yrs Rebecca organised the highly successful East Midlands Adult Learners' Week Awards ceremony.

The Promotion of Learning group has representation from Leicestershire Learning and Skills Council (LSC), Trade Unions, Health sector, Museums Libraries Archives East Midlands, City and County Adult Learning Services, FE Colleges and Universities, libraries and museums, nextstep, private training providers, WEA (voluntary sector), Age Concern, Leicester Partnership with support from the OCNEMR (Open College Network East Midlands Region), UK Online, learndirect, Racial Equality Council, BBC and NIACE.

The group meets quarterly to inform one another of their activity, i.e. forthcoming events/campaigns, also to ask each other for help and make useful links and share good practice and resources, i.e. staff, venues, materials; through these relationships, the group has successfully worked together to organise a variety of Adult Learners' Week events each year, and raised sponsorship to support activity.
