Adult Learner's Week in the East of England

Main contact: Roy Brown

Roy qualified from formal education as a product designer with Thorn EMI in North London. Following many years in this chosen career he made the decision to join a college of Further Education (FE) and to teach the many topics within this profession.

Roy has now worked in the education and learning field for over 30 years. As well as FE he has taught and managed learning within the private, public and voluntary & community sectors. His last job was managing the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Learning Partnership, a role where the primary objective was to widen participation in learning, especially from key target and disadvantaged groups.

Consultancy:

Roy now works independently with a range of interesting clients. However, the 'common denominator' is always learning and promoting the benefits of 'lifelong learning' for all. In his previous roles Roy has always supported Adult Learners' week and now through his Adult Learners' week  Regional Co-ordinators role is determined to maximise its impact in the East of England and get even more people giving learning a go!

Steering Group / Networks:

The East of England Learning Partnership Federation provides a focused steering group for Adult Learners' week in the our region. This group includes the county based Learning Partnership Managers, the NIACE Regional Development Officer and Go East representatives and provides excellent linkages into all sectors throughout the region.

Additionally a communication network is established which includes: the Heads of the county based Adult Learning Services; all regional PCDL Partnership Chairs; Family Learning Co-ordinators, Learning and Skills Council (LSC), East of England Development Agency (EEDA), East of England Skills and Competitiveness Partnership (EESCP) and Union Learn etc.
