Get skilled for life

We all need skills to be able to get on in life and at work, including reading, writing, maths and IT. These are called Skills for Life.

Why are Skills for Life important?
There are many ways that reading, writing and maths skills help; we use them everyday at home and at work. Doing the shopping, helping children, completing forms or reading the newspaper, all demand these essential skills.

Most jobs require us to follow instructions, read notices, use information technology and, of course check our pay!

Computer skills help us to access information, online banking or shopping. Because the world is changing rapidly, we need to keep up to date with these skills.

How can improving my basic skills help me?
You could get a better job, help your children with their homework, improve your self-confidence and even make better decisions about things like money.

And it's free!
