Legislation
In this section you can find out about various equality legislation and how it applies to you in your work. You will find the basic outline of the Race Relations Amendment Act 2000, (RRAA 2000) the Disability discrimination Act (DDA) and the Sex Discrimination Act (SDA).

You will also find information on race equality action plans that have been produced by local government and through various governmental organisations such as the Learning and Skills council (LSC) and the Department for Education and Skills (DFES).

Periodically, examples of good practice will also be posted on the site illustrating how legislation has been used in a positive way. We will also feature extemporary action plans and strategies as well as consultation documents for your consideration and comment.

Race Relations Act
The Race Relations Act 1976, as amended by the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000, makes it unlawful to discriminate against anyone on grounds of race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), or ethnic or national origin.
