Background

This conference is being organised jointly by NIACE, the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) and the National Open College Network (NOCN) and Access to Higher Education. It celebrates the ongoing success of the QAA recognised Access to Higher Education provision and provides delegates with the opportunity to hear the views of keynote speakers on how we can maintain the momentum for Access within the current policy context. There will be an opportunity to network and discuss the future development of Access to HE for adult learners.

Rt Hon Hilary Armstrong MP will provide the keynote address on the importance of Access as part of the skills agenda. An overview of the Access Development Project from QAA will illustrate how Access is trying to refresh itself and respond to the broader developments around the credit agenda. An Open College Network Regional Director will consider the implementation of the Access Project across the regions. A regional Learning and Skills Council (LSC) will underline the importance of Access in regional skills strategies and NIACE will consider the policy context for Access and a tertiary framework.

bulletoffer delegates an opportunity to hear from key players in the qualifications, policy, quality assurance and adult learning arenas and to contribute to the debate on the future development of Access to HE;
