A national conference of great importance for the Further and Higher
Education sectors at a significant time for revisiting models of collaboration.
The links between Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) are
growing ever stronger.
New dimensions are continuously being added, for example:
The rising importance of foundation degrees
Employer engagement
Work- based learning
Vocational progression
Widening participation and social inclusion
New models of HE/FE partnership are emerging such as Lifelong Learning
Networks.
The Government is stressing the importance of HE in FE – already 11% and set
to increase while the proposal for foundation degree awarding powers in FE
colleges would transform the F/HE landscape.
