Literacy, Language and Numeracy tutors are increasingly using ICT to deliver their programmes

Is it a useful tool or just sugar-coating the pill?

Annual NIACE / NATFHE Conference 2006

A CONFERENCE IN PICTURES
The messages, conversations and debates from presenters, workshop leaders and delegates from this conference were transformed into more than 50 illustrations showcased around the main hall. In an interactive session, Graham Ogilvie, invited delegates to comment on each one using coloured stickers to denote 'broadly agree' or 'broadly disagree'. A selection of these illustrations and comments are shown here (PDF file).

[Background] [Audience] [Programme]

Background

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is an increasing feature of Literacy, Language and Numeracy teaching, as a tool for delivery, as a learning resource, and now as one of the skills for life. This conference aims to give practitioners an opportunity to consider all of these issues, focusing particularly on embedding literacy, language and numeracy within ICT Skill for Life. It will enable literacy, language and numeracy practitioners to become more familiar with the role that ICT and e-learning can play in their practice.

There will be opportunities to get hands on experience of a number of new learning materials and approaches, the chance to discuss the process of embedding with a college who has piloted the approach, and our keynote speaker will outline the ICT Skill for Life approach.

The conference aims to enable literacy, language and numeracy practitioners to :

bulletbecome more familiar with the role that ICT and e-learning can play in their practice.
bulletconsider how ICT Skill for Life may be embedded within literacy, language and numeracy programmes.
