Aims

The aim of the SOLID (Supporting Online Learners – an Interactive Day) conference is to provide an opportunity for the dissemination of ideas and research stemming from the Big Lottery Funded Overcoming Social Exclusion through Online Learning project.

This is not just a listening conference. We will provide delegates with the opportunity to take part in interactive activities through a variety of media from interactive white board to voting system.

Objectives

The main objectives of the day are:

bulletTo learn about the key findings of the Overcoming Social Exclusion through Online Learning project
bulletTo address the role of support and why it is important for both learners and tutors (as well as other staff)
bulletTo have the opportunity to have your voice heard
bulletTo encourage a sharing of ideas
bulletTo create new networks.

Audience

This conference is aimed at anyone with an interest in online learning and the role support plays in it. The event is participatory, and we would like those attending to take an active part throughout the day, from raising questions, helping with answers and building new networks. The main focus of the day will be support, what it is, and how it can be given or provided by different groups including learners, staff, family and friends.
