Adult pre-entry curriculum framework for Literacy and NumeracyAdditional events - due to continued demand:
[Background] [Audience] [Programme] [Comments] BackgroundWhat is the Adult pre-entry curriculum framework? The Adult pre-entry curriculum framework was published in 2002. It is the government’s response to supporting the basic skills needs of people with difficulties in learning who were not yet ready to access the Core Curriculum. The underpinning principles for the Framework are the same as those for Valuing People (DOH, 2001) – rights, independence, choice and inclusion. The Framework is a valuable tool for staff. It can be used for devising assessment tasks, in planning and delivering sessions and for setting goals with learners. The document offers a fully inclusive post-16 framework that sets out the entitlement to learning literacy and numeracy for those who have not yet reached Entry 1 in the Adult Literacy and Numeracy core curricula. The framework can be used by teachers and trainers to identify the starting points of their learners, plan teaching and learning and monitor learner progress. The Training This one day event is an amalgamation of the original 3 day training. It is suitable for teachers to attend as a "refresh" event. It is also suitable for those teachers who have yet to have any training in how to use the document effectively. The training reflects the centrality of the learner. It is aimed at assisting those whose teaching involves supporting learners at pre-entry level with their communication, literacy and numeracy skills in any post-16 context. All participants will receive a delegate pack, which includes the curriculum document and supporting reference material.
