Background

Are you responsible for quality monitoring and improvement of learning provision for adults?
NIACE is offering one-day training events on “Demonstrating Impact for Quality using the five-stage process (RARPA)”, which will be particularly relevant to staff responsible for quality monitoring and improvement of learning provision for adults, in all sectors subject to inspection by OFSTED.

Training background
In response to changing policy context and building on our successful series of one-day RARPA training days for managers delivered since 2006, NIACE has developed two new interrelated training programmes.

Each one-day training programme is based on the RARPA approach and the five-stage process. The “Improving Teaching and Learning for Success” programme focuses on how the staged process benefits learning in the classroom. This programme, “Demonstrating Impact for Quality”, focuses on processes and systems demonstrating how the staged process contributes to learner progress and achievement in non- accredited learning.

Training Aims
To enable participants to develop an  understanding of how the five-stage process of recognising and recording progress and achievement impacts on:

bulletquality improvement and quality assurance processes
bulletmonitoring and reporting on the quality of teaching, self-assessment and inspection

Objectives

bulletunderstand the rationale for applying the five-stage process to non-accredited programmes
bulletunderstand the need for quality processes to have an impact on teaching and learning
bulletappreciate the need to address the five-stage process within self assessment reports
bulletunderstand how the five- stage process relates to the inspection process and other external quality reviews.

What are the benefits of attending “Demonstrating Impact for Quality” training?
By the end of the day participants should be better able to:

bulletHelp managers understand current and possible future policy relating to the staged process
bulletHelp managers to develop/use RARPA systems to monitor and report on the quality of teaching and learning outcomes.
bulletAnalyse a variety of approaches to quality assurance such as observation of teaching and learning (OTL), schemes of work (SOW), individual learning plans (ILP’s) and internal moderation.
bulletEngage in the development of staff training programmes
