From September 2005, RARPA is being implemented and embedded across LSC-funded
provision as the 'New Measure of Success' for non-accredited learning. As RARPA
now applies to all
non-accredited learning, it should be included in future self assessments and in
scoping for inspection. Even if you don't have LSC funding, RARPA is still a
useful learner-centred approach for
assuring the quality of the learner's experience.
The RARPA approach applies a staged process to recognising and recording
progress and achievement in, for example:
Work-based Learning
Further Education
E-learning
Family Learning
Literacy, Language and Numeracy
It provides a systematic approach to ensure that the learner is at the centre
of learning and the learner's goals are recognised and counted towards the
success of their learning within RARPA. These conferences aim to increase
awareness and understanding of:
how RARPA contributes to effective self-assessment
what the Inspectorate expect for RARPA
how RARPA contributes to the key questions and overarching judgements in
the new Common Inspection Framework
the diversity of methods for recognising and recording progress and
achievement that are not paper-based
Delegates should leave with a clear idea about the steps they and their
organisation need to take to appropriately use information from applying RARPA
to inform their self-assessment and quality
improvement actions. These conferences are supported by the National Learning
and Skills Council as part of Success for All.
These conferences are aimed at senior or middle managers in adult and
community learning (ACL) or adult learning where there is and community learning
(ACL) or adult learning where there is significant proportion of non-accredited
provision and will be relevant to:
