The three national conferences are part of the Higher Education in Further
Education Development Fund Initiative: Training and Support Programme. They
constitute part of the HEFCE funded research and support project undertaken by
NIACE and Warwick University in partnership with City College Manchester and
Sheffield Hallam
University.
The aims of the conferences are:
To develop college managers’ understanding of the Higher Education ethos
and its implications for management processes in Further Education colleges.
To receive information about and to discuss the research findings relating
to scholarly activity in Further Education Colleges.
To consider evidence relating to good practice.
To review and contribute to the final drafting of good practice guidance
materials.
To share practical approaches to the creation of a higher education
culture which supports and enhances the experiences of students in Further
Education Colleges and which assures appropriate quality assurance systems.
To help contribute to the dissemination of good practice at local and
regional levels.
