Prescribing LearningGood Practice in learning and healthFour Regional Conferences
[Background & Aims] [Audience] [Programme] Background & AimsIn this country there is health inequality - people who are poor experience more ill-health and die earlier than those people who are financially better off. There is also a learning divide - people who don’t succeed academically in initial education are more likely to experience unemployment, temporary or poorly paid employment as adults and therefore to experience the disadvantages that can lead to poorer health. Education can lead to greater self-esteem and personal development but it is also a route out of disadvantage for individuals, families and communities. These conferences make the link between learning about health for health improvement to learning which has a positive impact on health. The conferences will bring to the fore the powerful and innovative work that addresses health inequalities and also seeks to widen participation in learning. The conference will discuss joint approaches in taking the learning and health agenda forward and highlight good practice in learning and health. All participants will receive a copy of the new NIACE publication "Prescribing Learning: A guide to good practice in learning and health" which was launched on 7 December 2001. _______________________________
