[Background & Aims] [Audience] [Programme]

Background & Aims

The demographic changes in society are ensuring that ageing appears on policy agendas concerned with the economy, health and social policy, social inclusion and in widening participation in education.  Older and Bolder strives to create more, deeper and better learning opportunities for older people in the context of these emerging agendas as well as from an equality perspective.  This event, using illustrations mainly from the North West of England, will focus on the strategies, thinking and practice of those wishing to develop opportunities to:-

bulletequip older people to continue to live active lives on their own terms
bulletbuild on the lives, experiences, maturity and wisdom of older people.

It will also attempt, through the plenary sessions, to explore progress over the last five years in terms of achieving objectives and how the political and social climate has impacted on older learners.
