Making a Difference Cover

This resource pack, an outcome of the Adult and Community Learning Fund, offers a series of clearly signposted practical activities designed to stimulate discussion about active citizenship, to explore some key ideas and to develop knowledge and skills associated with individual and community action.  The pack is also intended to support a wider interest in learning.  It is based on extensive experience in the field and consultation with practitioners from the voluntary, community and educational sectors.

Modules cover: working out a programme of learning; what we mean by citizenship and democracy; effective campaigning and how groups work; and where to go for further information and contacts.  The modules are free-standing to allow for a 'pick and mix' approach; each includes clear aims and learning objectives, tips for group leaders, discussion prompts, and a series of activities with 'follow-up' ideas to encourage further learning.

This pack will be of use to adult and community education practitioners; outreach and community development workers in health and local authority services, voluntary organisations and educational institutions; school governors; trade unionists; and members of community and voluntary groups

Reviews

‘The first word must be congratulations! The author of this resource pack has taken a very complex issue and reduced it into bite-sized chunks that make it very accessible . . . an excellent, well-presented resource.’
