Is it secure to pay for books using a credit card?
Yes. When you enter your credit card details, you are connected to
a secure server at a company called SECPay. At no time are your credit card
details accessible by NIACE. SECPay provides all the security required for the
transmission and storage of card details using SSL, encryption minimum 40 bit
and firewalls.
Shopping using a card has now become an accepted way to pay for
goods or services. We are all comfortable with handing our card to a shop
assistant or waiter, or giving our card details to someone on the other end of
the telephone.
For many people however putting card details into a web site is
still uncomfortable, as we are not sure what is happening to the information we
are submitting or where it is going.
When you shop with a merchant who uses SECPay you can be assured
that your card details are securely encrypted during transport over the Internet
so no one can read your card information. The card details are only transported
to a Bank to authorise your purchase.
SECPay guarantees that it will never:

 | Sell or rent your details, you will never receive junk mail as a result of

What is SecPay?
SECPay Ltd is a secure, online, real-time payment service provider, supporting
all major credit and debit cards with the (major) UK acquiring banks for Visa,
Mastercard, Switch, Solo, Delta, JCB, American Express and Diners Club.
(However, please note that NIACE does not accept American Express.)

Can I pay using a currency other than Sterling?
Yes, overseas customers can remit in Euros or US dollars or sterling.

Can I order goods online without using a credit card?
Yes. You can use the online shopping basket and checkout facilities to
pay for goods by Invoice or by Cheque. The ordering process is exactly
the same, but when you get to the Payment Page, you select either "Pay by
invoice" or "Pay by cheque". Follow the on-screen instructions on
these pages to complete the order. However, since NIACE only invoices
organisations for orders over £35 (US$65.00, €55.00), the "pay by invoice" option will
only appear if your order is greater than £35 (US$65.00, €55.00).

When will my books be delivered?
We will endeavour to despatch your order within 5 working days of
receipt to the specified delivery address. If you goods have not arrived within 15
working days, please contact orders@niace.org.uk
quoting your Transaction ID (which can be found on your confirmation
email).

Can I place advanced orders for books which have not yet been
published?
Yes. However, please note that if you do this using a credit card
via the website, your account will be debited straight away.

Can I delete an item once it is in my shopping basket?
Yes. Each item in your shopping basket comes with a
"delete" button. Click on this to delete the item from the
basket. You can also change the quantity of an item in your shopping
basket, by selecting a new amount from the drop down menu and clicking
"Update".

How do I view what is in my shopping basket?
At the foot of every page in the publications website, there is a
"Show Basket" graphic. Click on this at any time to view what is
currently in your basket.

Will my personal details and email address be kept secure?
Yes. SECPay guarantees that it will never:

At no time does NIACE get to see your credit card details, however,
your name, address and email address may be stored on out database for data
processing purposes. NIACE is registered under the Data Protection Act
(1984).

How do I get more information about a publication?
For enquiries about the content or nature of a publication please
contact publications@niace.org.uk.

How do I order a quantity greater than 20?
Bulk orders of more than 20 copies of a particular title cannot be
purchased via the website. Please contact
virman@niace.org.uk who will be able to inform you of any discounted rates which are available.

What happens if a title is out of stock?
The online publications catalogue is not currently linked to a stock control
system, and occasionally a title may be out of print. If this happens then you will be refunded the
full amount of the title. The way you are refunded, will depend on the way
you elected to pay for the order:
If you paid via credit/debit card you will be issued with a full
refund. The appropriate amount will be refunded straight back onto your
credit/debit card within 5 working days of NIACE receiving your order.
If you paid via cheque, then a refund will be posted to you in the
form of a cheque made out for the appropriate amount.
If you paid via invoice, then you will be issued with a credit note
for the appropriate amount.

Can I return my goods.
Yes. If you are purchasing goods from this site as a UK based consumer
(as opposed to being a business customer) then under the Consumer Protection
(Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 you are entitled to an unconditional
right to cancel this order within 7-working days of receipt of goods. (In law
Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are not counted as working days).
Should you wish to cancel your order and return the goods as within the
limitations defined above, you may do so but goods must be returned at your own
expense in new and in unused, mint condition and must be returned by recorded
delivery with adequate packing and sufficient insurance cover within 14 working days
of receipt.

Can I change my order?
If paying by Invoice or by Cheque, you can change your order at any time
by using your BACK button to browse back to the shopping basket. If paying by
either of these methods, your order will not be processed until the relevant
paperwork has arrived at NIACE.
If paying via credit card, then you can change your order at any time BEFORE
clicking "Authorise" on the SECPay secure payment page. Once you
have clicked "Authorise", your card will be debited straight away.
