Jenny WilliamsRegional Development Officer, South East Jenny Williams (BA) is NIACE’s Regional Development Officer for the South East. This involves working with policy makers, providers and practitioners to influence and advise on adult learning policy, share good practice, and support the implementation of NIACE national programmes in the region. Jenny has 10 years experience of translating lifelong learning policy into local plans and practice within Local Authority and Learning and Skills Council settings. While working as the Lifelong Learning Policy Officer for Southampton LEA, Jenny co-ordinated the City’s strategy to become a European City of Learning and served as a Director of the UK Learning Communities Network. She developed the local Learning Partnership and the City’s first plans for Adult Learning, and co-ordinated the preparation of bids for significant regeneration funding to support community learning. During a secondment to the Learning and Skills Council for Hampshire and IoW, Jenny worked as Policy Adviser to the Executive Director and managed the local Council’s business and meetings. She supported the Executive Director and Chair in fulfilling their national and regional lead roles for Higher Education and Widening Participation. Jenny was a member of the Learning and Skills Council’s Widening Adult Participation Implementation Group and led a regional project to develop a South East Learning and Skills Compact with the voluntary / community sector. Jenny joined NIACE in January 2004. |
