Mavis ZutshiRegional Development Officer (Literacy, Language and Numeracy), South West Mavis is a Regional Development Officer for NIACE in the South West, with specific responsibility for Skills for Life and the SW Regional Achievement Programme. Mavis trained originally as a social worker and community worker and has worked across voluntary, community and statutory sectors, in a range of roles. She moved into adult education, from training community workers in Higher Education Institution and has subsequently had 15 years experience of developing adult learning opportunities in community and workplace settings with the Workers’ Educational Association. Alongside her NIACE work, she currently co-ordinates Literacy, Numeracy and ESOL provision for the WEA in the South West. She has a particular interest in learning as part of wider political and personal development and in situating literacy within a growth-centred approach. |
