Evaluation of Family Learning

 June - December 2002

The Basic Skills Team and the Lifelong Learning and Social Inclusion Team at NIACE were recently awarded a contract for the evaluation of LSC funded family learning programmes. The scope of the evaluation will include family literacy and family numeracy programmes, as well as wider family learning programmes. The evaluation aims to:

bulletunderstand better the role and potential of family programmes in adult and community learning;
bulletidentify and promote models of good practice;
bulletmake informed decisions on the future shape of LSC funded family programmes;
bulletmake informed decisions on how best to support providers of family programmes.

The evaluation, which will be completed in December 2002, is a key element in NIACE's growing portfolio of family learning/ basic skills research and development work.
