Rog GraySenior Project Officer, Europe, NIACE Rob Gray (PhD, PGCE, BSc) is a Senior Project Officer within NIACE currently responsible for the day to day project management of the ESF LSC Co-financed STEPS to Success retail skills project. Rob undertook a similar role within the Upskill Project in addition to providing personal adviser support to refugee and migrant project participants. Prior to the Upskill project, Rob provided personal adviser support to over 150 people seeking asylum on the NIACE ASSET-UK ESF Equal project. Before joining NIACE, Rob had gained experience of FE teaching (science and key skills) and careers guidance. His particular interests are vocational adaptation programmes for disadvantaged people, careers guidance for refugees and asylum seekers, welfare rights and social security provision, welfare to work policy and delivery, work based training and vocational training. Following completion of his PhD in Biological Chemistry on the development of near infrared dyes for DNA labelling, Rob undertook his PGCE (FE) at Huddersfield University after which he taught science and key skills in a variety of FE colleges. Following this, whilst gaining initial experience in careers guidance, Rob completed the NVQ level 4 in Guidance at Loughborough College. Publications include: Gray R. et al.
