Assistive technology in adult and community learning

Project Status : Completed

An introduction to the use of assistive technology was included within the E-Guides training as the understanding of the use of technology to support disabled learners was relatively poor across Adult and Community Learning (ACL). There was a need to build on this E-Guides foundation to provide more generic guidance on the practical issues associated with supporting disabled adult learners using technology and thus support the E-Guides mentoring of peers. The guidance was provided in both paper and web-based formats since experience had shown these are effective approaches in ACL. It was disseminated through events and existing networks including those concerned with disabled learners. Research was undertaken to gather good practice in ACL and incorporate it into the publications.

Completed material is available on www.aclearn.net  and the Learning and Skills Web.
