Analysis of new ACL Providers

Project Status : Completed

A number of voluntary sector organisations are now funded directly by The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) to provide learning through Adult and Community Learning (ACL) funding and Neighbourhood Learning for Deprived Communities. As contractors of the LSC these organisations have responsibility for strategic direction and staff development. The LSC published its policy document 'Working Together' which commits to a closer working relationship with voluntary sector providers and this sector is recognised as being especially effective in reaching socially excluded groups of learners and is thus well placed to meet the Post 16 Outcomes.

This study included a consideration of connectivity needs - for this UKERNA was consulted. This work built on the initial data collected by NIACE in a general survey of voluntary sector providers in February 2006 and collected much more detailed data from providers targeted as having a key role in both delivering learning and supporting other organisations which deliver learning.

The project researched and reported on the detailed organisational needs including a Training Needs Analysis of voluntary sector organisations in order for them to contribute to all post 16 e-learning outcomes.
