Learning Platforms in ACL 2006-7

Project Status : Completed

The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) has so far supported a total of 43 providers to set up learning platforms to provide online learning space for learners. This work has been promoted and supported with a programme of monitoring support. This work will take account of the recommendations of the Standards Unit Adult and Community Learning (ACL) Project and an emphasis will be placed on the application of platforms to quality improvement including the provision of differentiated resources.

This project recognised the role that platforms can play in facilitating the collection and presentation of evidence of achievement (E-Portfolios and RARPA (Recognising And Recording Progress and Achievement in non-accredited learning)). All grant-funded projects had access to common documentation and briefing on project management.

A large part of this stage of the project was the ongoing professional network support for the 43 projects, which already exist, but there was funding for additional projects and this was offered to new ACL Providers.

The project was evaluated at each stage using feedback questionnaires and through analysis of submitted reports. An overall evaluation should be conducted in 2007-8.
