Developing Speaking and Listening with young offenders

Project Status: Current

YALP is working with The Basic Skills Agency at NIACE to explore the development of speaking and listening skills with young offenders in custody. The project builds on the findings of YALP’s Arts Council/DfES funded pilot project (2006). The project team have worked with professional artists to explore strategies and approaches to build oracy skills creatively, and have supported custodial institutions to embed these approaches in their work. The project runs from April 2007, and findings will be published in February 2008.
