Youth Literacies Network

Youth Literacies Network LogoProject Status: Completed

 In 2006, The Young Adults Learning Partnership launched The Youth Literacies Network , supporting practitioners working with young adults aged 16 to 25 to develop literacy, language and numeracy. Network events to date have offered members the opportunity to hear presentations from practitioners, take part in discussions, review recent national research findings, and share their expertise and experiences to develop practice, and shape future meetings of the network.

The Youth Literacies Network will serve as:

bulletA platform for supporting practitioners;
bulletAn opportunity for presentations, debates and discussion; and to consider the impact of our work;
bulletA forum for the exchange of information and ideas, professional advice and support;
bulletA springboard for research, development and consultation;
bulletA test-bed or sounding board for toolkits and guidance;
bulletA means by which learners (involved with organisations representing in the network) may be consulted;
bulletA mechanism to influence and inform policy.

From April 2007, Youth Literacies will continue to function, but as a virtual network. Improved e-bulletins will be distributed quarterly, and network members will have the opportunity to participate and play a part in wider YALP research and development activities.
