NIACE in the Regions
We have a highly qualified team of Regional Development Officers (RDOs) with a wide range of experience and expertise. All regions have an RDO who works on the generic adult learning agenda and most regions also have an RDO who focuses on the literacy, language and numeracy, (LLN) agenda. Additionally, we currently have colleagues working specifically on the adult learning mental health agenda.
RDOs work in each of the 9 Government Office Regions to:
- advocate on behalf of adult learners and adult learning.
- provide bespoke consultancy, within the regions (The experience and expertise of our RDOs can be supplemented by other specialist teams within NIACE, and supported by our professional administrators)
- act as a source of current information on policies and practices for regional organisations, agencies and partnerships with an interest in adult learning.
- support, and, in some cases run, regional networks in order to contribute to the NIACE aims of widening access to learning for adults, supporting the improvement of quality of the learning experience for adult learners and influencing the development of policy and practice that affects adult learners, in relation to both formal and informal learning.
