About the awards

The Adult Learners' Week Awards recognise the commitment, interest and passion that adults bring to their learning. They're a great way of celebrating the achievements of learners, and raising the profile of learning opportunities in your area.

We want to hear the stories of people who - through determination, commitment and dedication - have transformed their lives through learning. Whether they've changed careers, started a new business, become happier and more fulfilled individuals or great role models for their family and friends - we want to hear about their learning journeys.

For learners like David Haigh, from Cumbria, a previous Adult Learners' Week Award winner, the Award is a recognition of a remarkable learning journey. He said, "Before, I had zero self confidence. My life had hit a crunch point and I was basically working on the premise that being dead by 30 was pretty much the outcome of my life. Since winning the award life has totally changed for me in ways I never imagined."

Awards are made to individuals, groups and families as well as to projects that make a real difference to learners. The nomination process for the 2008 awards has now closed.

You can now nominate for the 2009 Awards either online or using a paper copy here.

Award winners will receive a certificate and learning voucher to help them continue learning and will be invited to the Adult Learners' Week National Awards Ceremony. All nominees will receive a Certificate of Achievement.
