To celebrate local democracy week, NIACE is highlighting the critical role that Adult Learning plays to this agenda. This seminar will launch a special themed issue of Adults Learning. The aim is to ensure that adult learning fully contributes to the current local democracy agenda and through the seminar discuss issues and share strategies.
Key contributors to the special themed issue will provide short overviews on democracy and social capital, national policy, working with the voluntary sector and share local practice.

Participants will have opportunity to share local challenges and strategies and the seminar will conclude with a shared agenda for future advocacy.

This event will be of interest to all those involved in adult learning in the public and voluntary sectors, local councillors and academics.

Event Information
- Arrival and registration is at 2:45pm for a 3:00pm start. The event will end at 5:00pm
- Attendance is free to delegates
- Places can be reserved online via: www niace.org.uk/events Alternatively completed and signed application forms can be faxed or posted to NIACE by the closing date. Reservations by telephone cannot be accepted
- Places will be allocated in order of receipt of completed application forms (one form per person)

- Application forms are individually acknowledged by e-mail. Joining instructions, including map and directions, will be e-mailed out one week before the event
- Participants should be prepared to take their own notes as there will not be handouts for all sessions.

Application Conditions
- Substitutions are to be advised 5 working days prior to the event
- A 10 working days notice period is required for provision of electronic note-takers, sign language interpreters and transcription to Braille.
