• Are you a careers adviser, tutor of work-related programmes, workplace mentor or coach, union learning
representative, human resources or training officer?
• Do you advise people about progression at work or in their career?
NIACE offers practical one-day training courses which focus on the skills needed to advise people effectively about learning and work in a range of settings This day is offered in partnership with fdf (Foundation Degree Forward) and focuses on meeting the needs of working people who want to take up work-based or work-related Higher Education (HE) opportunities.
By the end of the session participants will be aware of:
• The information and advice requirements of working people who want to take up HE opportunities
• Resources that will help meet those requirements
• The range of progression routes available to working people
• Foundation degrees as a work-based work-related option for adults
• The role of employers in supporting employees to take up HE opportunities while working.
The day will be highly participative and activity-based with plenty of opportunities to explore ways that working people can access HE and how advisers can help them to choose the most suitable options. There will also be an activity about the benefits for employers and agreeing the range of support that employers can provide. Resources developed by fdf, NIACE and partner organisations, unionlearn and Sector Skills Councils (SSCs) will be explored.
