Training Aim

This half day training will clarify what dyslexia is and, in keeping with good practice as outlined in the Equality Act 2010, provide practical approaches to supporting employees with dyslexia.

Outcomes

By the end of the session, participants will:

  • have improved their understanding of what dyslexia is
  • be able to recognise some of the positive traits of dyslexia
  • have listened to and read real examples of dyslexic reading/writing
  • understand the benefits of assessment 
  • have some practical strategies for supporting employees
  • know what ‘reasonable adjustment’ means under the Equality Act 2010
  • be aware of the technology that can support employees with dyslexia
  • know what funding is available to support employees with dyslexia in the workplace.

Arrival and registration is at 12:00noon for a 12:45pm start. The event will end at 3:45pm
Event fee per person (includes sandwich lunch, tea/coffee): £99 (NIACE Members) £115 (Non NIACE Member)

NB: NIACE does not charge VAT on conference or course fees

NB: If you wish us to invoice your employer we require a copy of the Purchase Order before the form is processed.

Places will be allocated in order of receipt of completed applications (one online application per person)

Participants should be prepared to take their own notes as there may not be handouts for all sessions

Substitutions are to be advised 5 working days prior to the event

Cancellations are non-refundable

A 15 working days notice period is required for provision of electronic note-takers, sign language interpreters and transcription to Braille
