Aims

This practical workshop aims to support Community Learning Champions (CLC) schemes and Adult and Community Learning Fund (ACLF) projects to explore the potential for social enterprise development as an approach to sustainability.

Outcomes

Participants in the event will:

  • learn about social enterprise and its potential role in sustaining work previously funded by grants or other means;
  • learn about the policy context underpinning the current focus on social enterprise;
  • develop their understanding of formative questions and considerations that need to be addressed by organisations contemplating social enterprise development;
  • hear lessons and experiences from initiatives already exploring this approach;
  • identify and explore shared questions, issues and concerns;
  • inform the development of support material and resources on social enterprise development for community learning initiatives.

Event Information

  • Arrival and registration is at 10:15am for a 10:45am start. The practical workshop will end at 2:30pm
  • The workshop is free to invitees from CLC schemes and ACLF projects
  • Places will be allocated in order of receipt of completed online application forms (one online application form per person)
  • Video cameras may be in use at this event. If you do not wish to be photographed or appear on the video outputs please indicate this on the application form and make yourself known at registration
  • Participants should be prepared to take their own notes as there will not be handouts for all sessions

  • Substitutions are to be advised 5 working days prior to the event
  • A 15 working days notice period is required for provision of electronic note-takers, sign language interpreters and transcription to Braille
