Target Audience

NIACE has designed two new one day courses offered to organisations who are planning to deliver family learning for the first time, or who are offering family learning as part of a wider programme for families or children:

Family learning for non-specialists (1): Starting out

Family learning for non-specialists (2): Evaluating Progress

The courses are ideal for voluntary and community organisations, children’s centres, schools and cultural organisations.

The courses are particularly relevant for managers and tutors new to family learning or who wish to develop their current offer.

Delivered by trainers who are experienced in family learning and in working with voluntary and community organisations, the courses can be taken together or independent of each other.

Family learning for non-specialists (1): Starting out is an introductory session to the principles and practice underpinning best practice in engaging and working with the most disadvantaged families through a family learning approach.

Training Aim

This one day training session aims to:

  • develop an understanding of the principles and practice of a family learning approach to working with the most disadvantaged families
