Background

There is strong evidence to show that supported employment for people with learning disabilities works. Recognised as a direct and effective means of addressing social exclusion, Government has expressed a desire to see supported employment embedded in vocational education, and trained Job Coaches will be an essential part of this vision.  The Supported Internship programme for young people with LDD will be offered by providers from September 2013.  Given that the current economic climate increases the risk of social exclusion of vulnerable people, the role of Job Coaches has now become even more crucial.

NIACE is pleased to be working in partnership with staff from The ROSE Programme* to offer this one day training designed to provide the essential skills needed for anyone becoming a Job Coach.

*"The ROSE programme is an example of a creative approach to the transition of learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities into work that is producing good results"

Progression through Partnership, HM Government, 2007
