[Module 1: Look and Feel] [Module 2: Meeting the Learners' Needs] [Module 3: Engaging Learners] [Module 4: Supporting Learners] [Module 5: Reflecting and Recording] [Event Information] [Application Conditions] [Taking part in the course]
A six week online course, using a popular open-source learning platform, ideal for practitioners who are looking to use their learning platform (VLE) as more than a simple repository for resources, in order to make the most of the tools available to ensure that the learner has an interactivemultimedia rich experience.
Participants from recent courses told us:
THANKS!! I would consider it money well spent ( especially as I paid for it myself).
This course has provided a valuable insight into what can be aimed for and achieved.
The course was useful to know what we can do with our moodle
Very useful material - well-structured and presented.
The organisation of the material is excellent.
Useful wide range of content. Certainly took away some useful tips and ideas.
I have really enjoyed this course and have been able to take a lot of hints and tips away from it
This has taught me a lot about how a course needs to look to the learner.
There was a lot of new content and internet tools introduced that I haven't used before.
I have been very impressed with the amount of support available in all its forms.
I was particularly grateful for the opportunity to discuss progress outside of the set tutorials.
My facilitator was very helpful, supportive and frieindly. This helped me to gain confidence during the course.
Great support...very helpful when needed but left me to learn at my own pace.
Thoroughly useful and enjoyable course, run over a reasonable timeframe to get it all in. I enjoyed it and was learning new things from the very first session!
This was brilliant , probably the most useful development I've ever had!
Very much appreciate the quality of teaching and course design. THANKS!! I would consider it money well spent ( especially as I paid for it myself)
The course consists of five modules:
_______________________________
Module 1: Look and Feel
Week 1 explores the learning environment; the look and feel of the course and its importance to the learner.
_______________________________
Module 2: Meeting the Learners' Needs
Weeks 2 and 3 explore how the course materials can be presented in ways that meet the needs of the learner. An online learning environment provides the opportunity to present learning materials in different formats for our learners, we can use audio and video as an alternative to text based materials. We can create interactive learning objects that allow our learners to self study and interactive assessment materials that provide immediate feedback. The course materials which are stored online can support the delivery of class based sessions. They can provide self study materials or an opportunity for a learner to revisit materials as often as required.
_______________________________
Module 3: Engaging Learners
Week 4 explores the ways in which tools available both inside virtual learning environments and on the Internet can be used to engage learners in collaborative activities.
_______________________________
Module 4: Supporting Learners
Week 5 explores how learners can be supported when learning online using tools available both inside their virtual learning environment and on the Internet.
_______________________________
Module 5: Reflecting and Recording
Week 6 explores ways in which learners can be encouraged to reflect on their learning experience and for their progress and achievement to be captured. Participants will need to spend a minimum of three hours a week on the course (depending on experience). The course will be very interactive and not only will participants learn new skills and consider pedagogy, but they will be given an area on a Moodle course that they will develop during the course and share with other participants for feedback.
