Background
More and more learning resources are being made freely online as Open Educational Resources (OERs). This 'treasure chest' of free material can provide a real enrichment to the learning on offer to adults on courses and can be used by independent learners. This event will explore how teachers can adopt 'Open Educational Practices' (OEP) to source re-purpose and re-use OERs. It will draw on experience of the JISC funded OPER projects and the transnational OPAL project.

Aims
The aim of this event is to provide a forum for practitioners, researchers and leaders in all parts of post school learning to address these questions:
- How can we widen and deepen awareness of the opportunities presented by Open Educational Practice?
- What training do staff need in sourcing and re purposing OERs?
- What guidance should be offered in most effective ways to create and share OERs?
- What are the risks to embracing OEP and how can they be addressed?
_______________________________
Outcomes
Seminar participants will be able to:
- Share their own experiences and good practices
- Learn from practices of others and from collaborative transnational work in the area of OEP.
The seminar will produce a short summary paper.
NB The event will be structured to enable plenty of professional dialogue.
_______________________________
Audience
This seminar is for teachers and curriculum managers in Adult Education, Work-based learning, Offender Learning, Further Education and Higher Education who wish to make better use of existing open educational resources and who would like to make sure that materials they create can be used by others.
