Background

As Britain gears up to ‘race online by 2012’ digital technologies will play an increasing role in our lives and in our learning. The Independent Inquiry into the Future for Lifelong Learning (2009), recognised the importance of digital skills, to enable people to maximise their use of the digital world.

This conference offers the opportunity to consider and discuss:

  • what digital skills are currently being delivered and how?
  • how do we make sure no one misses out?
  • what is the next generation of digital skills?
  • how could they be delivered?

Presenters and delegates will join a dialogue over what digital skills should mean for citizens, learners, teachers and organisations in the next decade. Contributors to the event will include: representatives fromgovernment, community and voluntary organisations, local authorities, learning organisations, Transformation Fund projects, the private sector and eminent speakers who will play an integral role in delivering and supporting the digital skills of the future.
