Target Audience

This one day training programme is designed for all staff who are involved in staff recruitment.This includes Human Resources personnel, Senior or Lead Managers who have a key role in recruiting new staff, Designated or Safeguarding Officers and teams.  The training is also relevant to Trade Union representatives.

Training context

Over the course of 2012 / 2013 there has been a number of significant changes to vetting and barring of staff within the learning and skills sector. This course updates staff on those changes and provides an opportunity to review current recruitment practices.

Training Aim

To provide participants with the opportunity to review current recruitment practices within their organisation and update themselves on the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and the new Vetting and Barring procedures.

Objectives

By the end of the training participants will have:

  • an improved understanding of the current DBS procedures
  • considered the impact of these changes on organisations’ procedures and practices
  • considered what checks are required to ensure the legal requirements and met and   ensure appropriate safeguarding practices are implemented
  • explored effective recruitment practices

NOTE:

The training is delivered by an established and well respected Safeguarding trainer, who has over 30 years experience working in the learning and skills sector as a teacher, manager and staff development trainer.

NIACE certification will be given for attendance at the training which can be used for CPD verification.

This training is also available for delivery in-house/on-site for organisations.
