Mental Health Awareness for providers of learner services

In–house one–day workshops

Target audience:

All staff working in organisations providing learner services to people with mental health difficulties. This one day session can be modified to the learning needs of specific staff e.g. administrative, support staff, tutors, lecturers, community support workers, senior managers, principals, vice principals, student support service providers, lecturers, tutors.

This one –day session includes components which will enable participants to:

bulletBe aware of some of the signs and symptoms of the most common mental health difficulties
bulletBe aware of barriers to learning for people with mental health difficulties
bulletExplore what they as an individual and their organisation can do to improve the mental well-being of all learners.
bulletHave knowledge about the legal obligations of learning providers towards learners with mental health difficulties
bulletIdentify internal and external barriers in the learners’ journey and how to respond to these.
bulletConsider the use of an anticipatory quality framework checklist, the development of mental health policies and other measures to develop a whole organisation approach towards learners with mental health difficulties.

Training delivery

The workshop is delivered by 1 trainer up to 25 participants/ 2 trainers up to 50 participants, using a range of presentations, group work, videos and discussion to facilitate learning.
