Laptop Keyboard Digital assessment

Digital Assessment looks at all the ways that learners, teachers and institutions use digital technology to understand how progress is being made in learning. It is made up of both initial and formative assessment, which informs the learning process, and summative assessment, which describes learners' achievements at the end of a period of study.

Alongside Digital Assessment there is great interest in the use of e-portfolios to provide evidence of progress and reflection on learning. Both methods are being used in all curriculum areas.

E-portfolios

E-portfolios play a key part in ensuring equality for all learners. They provide a way for learners to undertake an assessment and store their work in a way that fits their needs. NIACE is already involved in work around Digital Assessment through a number of projects.

E portfolios can perform a number of functions and this video gives a short introduction to four main uses
