Training and development for the learning and skills workforce is vital to achieving better learning for adults.

NIACE works with a number of large public sector organisations - like the Army and the National Offender Management Service - to help develop the skills of their workforce, particularly in relation to Skills for Life and communicating clearly in the workplace.
We also run a range of training events which contribute to the continuing professional development of staff involved in the learning and skills development.

Who's who in the learning and skills workforce?

Most people working in adult learning and skills development are in a teaching or training role, though some work only as assessors in the workplace.

Teachers, trainers and assessors may be employed by further education colleges, local authorities, private training providers or third sector organisations. Large public sector organisations also employ people in training and assessment roles.
