Bright Education Spotlight Project

Picture of a learner

Running in July 2010, NIACE is working to profile the work of Bright Education Centre (BEC) in south London. Bright Education Centre is a winner of the London Education Partnership 'Third sector organisation of the year' Award which is sponsored by NIACE.

What are we aiming to achieve?

This project seeks to recognise and celebrate the efforts being made by Brightside and the capital's other innovative projects and partnerships to enable many more young people and adults who have the potential to succeed to go on to higher education.

How will we do this work?

NIACE has planned a Spotlight Event in partnership with Bright Education in order to raise the profile of this important work and set a course for its future development. The event is on July 19th at NIACE's London base in Southwark (CAN Mezzanine, Loman St, SE1). We would like to invite anyone interested in this work to attend the plenary session (4.30 - 5.30pm) as a guest.

Who is this work for?

This project is for any London stakeholders with an interest in widening participation, using volunteers in lifelong learning interventions and third sector education partnership working.

What is (or will be) the impact of this work?

The work will produce practical solutions to a number of challenges:

  1. How is it possible to fund and support this work in the current climate?
  2. How can you deliver support to parents of young people engaged by this work?
  3. Is it possible to expand this work whilst maintaining quality?
  4. How do you fund and develop a volunteer programme?
