Developing Speaking and Listening with young offenders

In 2007/08 YALP (Young Adults Learning Partnership) worked with The Basic Skills Agency at NIACE to explore the development of speaking and listening skills with young offenders in custody. This project built on the findings of YALP's earlier Arts Council/DfES funded pilot project (2006). The project team worked with professional artists to explore strategies and approaches to build oracy skills creatively, and have supported custodial institutions to embed these approaches in their work. A copy of the final publication from this project can be ordered from NIACE's online bookshop
