The project aimed to raise the quality of learning experiences for adult learning through upskilling teaching staff to use technology in inspirational ways.
The E-Guides Training Programme aimed to increase the use of e-learning through developing the skills and knowledge of E-Guides so they were able to support colleagues from all subjects in their use of technology in teaching and learning. Over the years the programme evolved in response to sector demands and funding needs. In the academic year 2009/10, funded by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), it became part of the eCPD programme along with the Professional Development Advisers (PDAs) eCPD programme and was renamed E-Guide eCPD. Changes were also made to the delivery model. The three day face-to-face delivery was adapted to provide a blended approach using online delivery supported by facilitators and the use of a virtual classroom.
The E-Guide programme was designed to help support practitioners fulfil the Institute for Learning (IfL) 30-hour (or pro-rata) CPD requirements, engage and improve learning employability skills and deliver new demand-led markets.
Building on the success of the blended 2009 - 2010 delivery, in March 2010 NIACE were contracted by LSIS to adapt the remaining E-Guides materials so the whole E-Guides eCPD programme could be accessed as online modules of learning. The new materials had been written with an expectation that E-Guides would be provided with organisational support throughout the programme.
The E-Guides eCPD Online materials can be accessed by logging in as a 'Guest' on the NIACE Moodle.
