GO-Learn Toolkit for the Taking Forward Community Learning in the South East Project

GO-Learn: Golden Opportunities to Learn

GO-Learn is the name of ‘Golden Opportunities to Learn', a non-prescriptive toolkit designed to allow organisations to harness the interest generated by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in attracting adults and young people into learning, volunteering and work.

What are we aiming to achieve?

It is about helping organisations, through a collection of case-studies and easy steps, to find ways to engage adults and young people through sport, recreation or cultural activities, and about adding the element of work and employability skills to these activities.

The challenge is not necessarily for organisations to deliver every aspect of a programme themselves but rather to link up and co-work with other organisations.

How will we do this work?

The toolkit can be followed section by section, or you can ‘dip into' the sections that interest you or that are relevant to your organisation.

By clicking the heading below you can download individual sections of the toolkit in PDF format:

Who is this work for?

This toolkit is for you if you are part of a community organisation, group, club, Further Education College or local authority and you feel that you can offer training to adults and young people that will allow them to progress towards further learning, volunteering or paid employment.

What is (or will be) the impact of this work?

We hope that organisations across the South East will use the toolkit to support their work with learners. If you use the toolkit and would like to submit a case study, please email it to pam.lumsden@niace.org.uk. These will be collated and added to the website to build the resources available.
