Quality Improvement Agency (QIA) Skills for Life Improvement Programme

The key aim of the QIA Skills for Life Improvement Programme is to improve teaching, learning and achievement in literacy, language and numeracy. Support for providers is available under the following broad categories:

  • Workforce Development
  • Whole organisation approach to improving learner success rates
  • Embedding literacy, language and numeracy
  • Assessment
  • Working with people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities
  • Speaking and listening

As noted above, there is a specific strand focussing on working with people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, which NIACE and SKILL are leading on. Through this element of the programme we aim to improve the quality of experience and support improved levels of achievement for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Using the materials developed in previous national projects, the Learning for Living pathfinder project and the Supporting Dyslexic Learners project, providers will be encouraged to embed these materials into everyday practice in order to support learners.
