The Learning Revolution Yorkshire
Yorkshire and the Humber LEAFEA (the network of Local Authority Adult Learning Services), supported by NIACE, hosted an event in Leeds on 12 March 2010 to showcase and promote informal learning in the region and address issues around sustainability. The event attracted over 80 people, with keynote speeches by Rosie Winterton, MP and Alan Tuckett, Director of NIACE.
What are we aiming to achieve?How will we do this work?We held an event in Leeds Town Hall. As well as the keynote speeches by Rosie Winterton and Alan Tuckett, showcases were provided by the Sine FM project Doncaster, Business in the Community, and The Calderdale Women's Centre. Group discussions focused on making the case for informal adult learning. Who is this work for?This work will benefit all stakeholders in informal adult learning. What have we accomplished to date?The following resources were produced as a result of the event, and can be accessed at this site: What have we learnt from this work?There is a range of quantitative and qualitative evidence that shows how informal adult learning supports a range of agendas, including health and wellbeing, community cohesion, social mobility and a fair society, work, skills and employment.
